Bhubaneswar, May 21: Odisha’s Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced that student union elections are likely to be held in colleges across the state this year.
The minister’s statement has sparked excitement among students, marking a possible revival of the electoral process after years of suspension.
The minister assured that elections will be conducted without affecting academics. The government plans to complete Plus III admissions and the academic curriculum before Dussehra to make arrangements for the polls.
The move is seen as a push to promote democratic values and leadership skills among students, with elections having been halted earlier due to the pandemic and other challenges.
