Bhubaneswar, May 16: In an antirabies move in Odisha’s Capital City the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to initiate birth control of stray dogs.
The BMC for a post- operative care has readied a modular hospital for the street dogs adhering to the rules laid down for safety of the scavenger.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das on Friday flagged off the dog’s birth control campaign here in the BMC building whereas animal activists led by veterinary surgeons, began their operations in a mission to curtail the further breeding of stray dogs.
With the MBC’s antirabies campaign a team outsourced from Hyderabad, will trap bitches in a specialized lorry and undertake surgical interventions for their birth control.
According to BMC Mayor Das, the Animal Birth Control(ABC) squad aims at least 2000 stray dogs in a month, for surgical interventions.
