Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace sprinter Srabani Nanda going to add another feather in her cap, as her name shortlisted in the India’s Women’s 4X100 team for World Athletics Relays 2026 to be held on 2-3 May, in Gaborone, Botswana.
As per recent women’s 100m timings top five athletes are Nithya Gandhe (11.59s), Sneha S.S (11.63s), Tamanna (11.64s) (PB), Srabani Nanda (11.77s) and Sudeshna Shivankar (11.78s).
The timings mentioned are their season bests, and the top five finishers from Indian Series-3 have been selected for the World Athletics Relays, India currently has three teams in the qualification zone Men’s 4x400m, Women’s 4x100m, and Mixed 4x400m.
“I am excited to be a part of the national women’s 4X100 relay team. This is the first time our sprint 4X100 relay team qualified for the World athletic relay meet. As per the new guidelines it is mandatory for each women athlete to give sex-determination region Y gene analysis (SRY) test before a competition. I am thankful to the State Government and the Sports Department and my coaches for supporting me”, said Srabani Nanda.
Talking about her timings Srabani said “In this season I had only participated in the Indian Athletics Series 3 at Delhi. Where I had clocked 11.77s. Before that I missed 1st National Indoor Athletics Championship as I am in the national camp for the world relay event. I believe my timing will be better at Botswana”.
