First Girl from Didayi Tribe Clears Medical Entrance
In a truly remarkable achievement, Champa Rasbeda has become the first girl from the Didayi tribal community in Odisha's Malkangiri district to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Her success is a historic milestone, bringing immense pride to her remote village and offering a powerful symbol of hope and change for her community.
Path to Success
Champa's journey was filled with challenges common to her community, including financial hardship and a lack of educational facilities. After completing her schooling at government-run institutions, she prepared for the highly competitive medical entrance exam at a private coaching center. She credits her high school teacher, Utkal Keshari Das, as a constant source of support and motivation.
Her teacher inspired her by sharing the story of Mangala Muduli, who last year became the first doctor from the Bonda tribe. This example fueled Champa's determination, proving that with dedication, even the highest goals are achievable.
Goal to Serve Her Community
Champa's ambition is deeply rooted in her desire to serve her own people. Her village lacks a hospital, and for minor illnesses, many residents still turn to sorcery and superstitious practices. She believes that as a doctor from their own community, she will be able to build trust and encourage people to seek proper medical treatment.
Having grown up in a large family with a farmer father, Champa has always dreamed of becoming a doctor. Now set to join the Fakir Mohan Medical College, she is not just on the path to fulfilling her personal dream; she is poised to become a catalyst for social change, aiming to eradicate harmful superstitions and bring modern healthcare to her village.
