Bhubaneswar, May 7: While India goes to the first war against terrorism, mock drills in Odisha at as many as 12 delicate places demonstrated ‘Run to Survive’, for community response and mass awareness on Wednesday.
In pursuance of the circulars issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil defence conducted mockdrills across the state at 12 selected locations in order to sensitize mass in case of emergency-like situations triggered by war.
Contingents of civil defence accompanied by volunteers, NCC and scout cadets, demonstrated the very tricks on how to respond to a stimuli related to danger or war-related emergencies during the probable war looming over Pakistan, following the Pahalgam massacre.
Beginning from the Odisha’s Capital City Bhubandeswar-to- rural suburbs having economic significance including Angul, Talcher, Paradip, Dhamra, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Gopalpur, Sambalpur, Balasore, Rourkela, Chandipur, Bhadrak etc, the Odisha Police, Odisha Fire Services & CISF conducted massive mock drills at crowded places. Here the civil defence wings alarmed the mass blowing a special buzzer that intended to attract quick public response to the stimuli, for self-defence and public security.
Following the alarm, the civil defence personnel demonstrated rescue operation and firstaid post mock-bombing and scathing attack with arms and ammunition.
Apart from it, the civil defence wings demonstrated the very tricks featuring, how to respond to sudden fire, blackout, explosion and the technicality involving successful survival form danger. Meanwhile, NCC and Scout cadets acted as victims and survivers who demonstrated how to run to a safe & secured place in order to get rid of danger.
The Odisha Home Department began statewide civil defence mock drills in the state at 4 pm today aiming to train citizens for emergency situations like enemy air attacks.
The drills are to run at least for a week across 12 districts, including Khordha, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Sundargarh.
Over 4,000 Apada Mitras, civil defence volunteers, and personnel from OSDMA, NCC, and NSS participated in the drills.
Emergency Response Centres at state and district levels were also activated during the state-wide exercise.
