Cuttack, Sep 6: The two-day extended state executive committee meeting of the Odisha BJP concluded in Cuttack on Sunday, with the party adopting a political resolution and urging its workers to strengthen grassroots outreach ahead of the upcoming panchayat, municipal and cooperative elections.
The meeting was chaired by Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal. BJP national general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santosh, who addressed the gathering on the second day, stressed that “service” remains the party’s core principle.
He urged party workers to work with dedication for ordinary people and reach those at the grassroots with government services, facilities and basic rights.
Santosh also called upon BJP workers to remain connected with people and work hard to earn their trust ahead of the forthcoming local elections.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi discussed various welfare schemes of the Odisha government and their implementation.
The party said the meeting provided renewed motivation to work towards building a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.
A political resolution adopted at the meeting strongly criticised the Congress and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over their conduct on several national and state issues.
The Opposition parties have been engaging in what the BJP described as misinformation and attempts to defame the country despite economic growth. The party also criticised Congress over its alleged disrespect towards Vande Mataram, opposition to the women’s reservation legislation and its stance on issues related to national security.
The Odisha BJP accused Congress of functioning as the BJD’s “B-team” in Odisha, while criticising both parties for their opposition to amendments related to the MMDR Act.
