Cuttack, Sep 5: The Odisha BJP’s two-day state executive meeting began at the Cuttack Indoor Stadium on Saturday, with the party turning its attention to strengthening its organisation ahead of the upcoming three-tier panchayat and urban local body (ULB) elections.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior party leaders attended the meeting, along with national leaders and Odisha BJP in-charge Sunil Bansal.

A major focus of the deliberations is expected to be the party’s electoral strategy for the panchayat and ULB polls. The three-tier panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in 2027, making grassroots-level organisational strengthening a key priority for the ruling BJP.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said the party would finalise its strategy for the panchayat and ULB elections during the two-day meeting. Leaders are also discussing organisational issues, identifying areas where the party needs to improve and working out plans to expand its presence across the state.

The local elections will be particularly significant for the BJP as they will test the party’s organisational strength at the grassroots level. With panchayat institutions playing a crucial role in rural Odisha and ULBs shaping political influence in towns and cities, the party is expected to focus on strengthening its cadre network, improving coordination among elected representatives and expanding its reach among voters.

The meeting, chaired by state BJP president Manmohan Samal, brings together the party’s state office-bearers, ministers, legislators, MPs, candidates and organisational leaders.

The deliberations are expected to produce a roadmap for the BJP’s political and organisational activities in Odisha in the run-up to the local body elections.
