Bhubaneswar, August 14: The new BJP government in Odisha has taken a strict stance on regulating the sale and consumption of liquor. The Excise department has issued a warning to all liquor shops in Bhubaneswar to adhere to the permitted operating hours or face action.
District Excise Office, Bhubaneswar has directed all the Officer in Charges (OICs), Inspectors and Deputy Superintendents of the Excise stationed in the Capital City to keep vigil on the IMFL 'ON' shops running illegally beyond the stipulated time by engaging women and advertising on social media.
As per rules, ‘Off’ shops can sell liquor until 10:30 PM, while ‘On’ shops can serve until midnight. The district excise office has instructed officers to monitor and take action against shops violating these rules, including those playing music, engaging women, or advertising on social media.
Field officials, excise inspectors are also tasked with ensuring that no liquor is sold beyond approved premises and that no illegal advertisements are displayed
