Bhubaneswar: After the super success of Disco Dancer, the superhit Jodi of Babbar Subhash and Mithun Chakraborty hit the silver screen with Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki. The fim was released on this day. Nov 23, 1984, 40 years ago.
Mithun Chakraborty played double role in the film. Produced and directed by Babbar Subhash, the film had Smita Patil, Salma Agha, Karan Razdan, Geeta Siddharth and Amrish Puri in lead roles.
MEGA HIT
The film made on a budget of Rs1.40 cr. On the opening day, it collected Rs 16 lakh, and opening weekend collected (₹1.23 cr). The India net box office collections were Rs 3.56 cr and worldwide gross collections were ₹5.50 cr. The film was declared Superhit at Box Office India. It was rated at 5.7/10 stars by IMDb and was the ninth highest grossing film of India in 1984.
The mega success of the film and the craze surrounding the film saw its remade in Tamil as Mangamma Sabadham in 1985 with Kamal Hassan in dual role. Sujatha and Madhavi as the lead actress.
YOUNG SMITA DONS MITHUN’S MOTHER ROLE
Veteran actress Smita Patil, who was younger to Mithun Chakraborthy by five years, plays his mother in the film. Later she played his elder sister in Dilwalaa (1986), and Dance Dance (1987).
As per gossip, Smita Patil was not enthusiastic about the offer of playing the mother role of Mithun Chakraborty in the film. But Producer-Director B Subhash, promised Smita Patil to offer a glamourous role in his next movie Dance Dance.
WHEN FARAH KHAN ON BACKGROUND!
Farah Khan is a well known choreographer in B-town. She had choreographed in as many as 100 songs in 80 films. She had even won the coveted National Film Award for Choreography. She rose to fame in 1992 movie with Jo Jeeta Woh Sikandar. She debuted to the B-town with her first choreography in 1981 movie Kahan Kahan Se Guzar Gaya. But she remained in oblivion till 1992.
However, the interesting film fact here is in the top chartbuster of 1984, song Jeena bhi kya hai jeena… Tere bahon ke bina… Farah Khan was seen as one of the background dancers. She plays one of the zombies in cemetery.

- Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki features a dance sequence called Jeena Bhi Kya Hai Jeena Teri Ankhon Ke Bina clearly modeled on Michael Jackson's video "Thriller", in which the ghoulish characters do a synchronised dance in a graveyard.
