Puri, Jan 26: A day after the world-famous 76th Dhanu Yatra came to an end with the killing of demon king Kansa by Lord Krishna and Balaram in Odisha’s Bargarh, the king reached Puri to seek forgiveness from Lord Jagannath on Friday.
Hrusikesh Bhoi, who played the mythological character King Kansa this year, arrived at Puri after 3-hour journey to the shrine from Odisha’s Bargarh, to apology for his role as an evil king, during the Dhanuyatra festivity.
He offered prayer to Lord Jagannath to wash out all his sins, reaching the Puri Jagannath Temple.
Apart from it, Bhoi apologized before Jagadguru Shankaracharya, seer of the Gobardhan Mutt Puri, to pardon him for playing the mischievous mythological part throughout the Krishna Lila episodes.
Sources said, Bhoi after reaching Puri in the noon took a holy dip in Puri and visited the Jagannath temple as a part of the Dhanuyatra tradition, to seek forgiveness from the Lord and the seer, after the mythological open-air theatre concludes.
Responding to reporters, Bhoi said “I brutally torture all of my countrymen immensely while performed as tyranny King Kansa.However, I am a true devotee of Lord Jagannath. I come here every year after the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra concludes, in order to wash out my sin for playing the demon’s role during the Krishna Lila and Mathura Vijay episodes”.
Worth mentioning, Bhoi who is a maestro in performing mythological characters avidly has already mesmerized the audience in the Dhanuyatra for at least 11 times so far, coming up as Kansa.
