Balasore, July 13: In a heartfelt gesture of support for the victims of the recent floods in Odisha’s Balasore, the Bala Vikasa Social Service Society, in collaboration with Amazon, distributed essential goods to 300 families across several affected villages.
The distribution took place in the villages of Panchurukhi, Chaudhurikuda, Bishnupur, and Chadabastakalarui in Block Baliapal.
The relief materials, worth Rs 4000 each, were given to flood-affected individuals struggling with the aftermath of the devastating floods. The floods have submerged nearly 8 villages, leaving people without food, shelter, and electricity. Many villagers are also living in constant fear of poisonous snakes, which have made their way into the floodwaters.
Burra Vikram, the Project Coordinator of Bala Vikasa, addressed the crowd at the relief event, saying, "Though we regularly carry out service programs, it is especially during such calamities that we must come together to help. Thanks to our collaboration with Amazon, we are able to assist in providing the most basic necessities to the affected communities."
Over the past three years, Bala Vikasa, together with Amazon, has provided relief to over 10,000 families in flood-affected regions across several states, including Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Karnataka.
The event was attended by several village leaders, including Sarpanch Gita Rani Mahana and elders Ajay Kumar Patra, Sudam Das, and Nilakantha Jena. These leaders actively participated in the distribution of relief materials and assured the villagers that more support would be provided in the coming days.
The joint efforts of Bala Vikasa and Amazon have made a significant impact in helping the community in its time of need, and the relief work will continue until the situation improves.
