Cuttack, July 13: Raising concerns about the safety of hostel food, at least 44 students from Ravenshaw University in Odisha’s Cuttack have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after developing symptoms of food poisoning.
As per initial reports, the students began experiencing diarrhea and discomfort after eating food served in the university hostels.
All the affected students, which include 37 students from the New PG Hostel and seven from the Dharmapada Hostel, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Authorities at both Ravenshaw University and SCB Hospital are closely monitoring the situation, with the Vice Chancellor staying in contact with both the students and the medical team.
"Once the students recover, a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the food contamination," an official stated.
The incident has sparked significant concerns regarding the hygiene and food safety standards at the university.
