Malkangiri, July 13: In a gruesome incident, a local web channel journalist was brutally hacked to death by some miscreants in Odisha's Malkangiri district last night.
The deceased has been identified as CH Naresh, a resident of Muraliguda village.
As per reports, Naresh was talking with two fellow journalists and two local youths when suddenly, five individuals arrived on motorcycles and attacked him with sharp weapons and swords.
Thereafter, he was rushed Motu Hospital for treatment and later shifted to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after his health condition deteriorated. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
An investigation has been initiated into the matter and efforts are on to trace and nab the culprits involved, said the police.
