Berhampur, Ap 15: A 30-year-old man, Shiva Nahak, was brutally murdered in Ganjam district on Tuesday evening, sending shockwaves through the local community and prompting immediate police action.

The incident occurred on the main road of Bhetanai village, under the jurisdiction of Kotinada Police Station. According to initial reports, Nahak was attacked by an assailant who repeatedly stabbed him with a knife, causing severe injuries to multiple parts of his body.

Locals and family members rushed the critically injured man to the Aska Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Upon receiving the news, Aska SDPO Santosh Kumar Jena arrived at the crime scene and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that Nahak had returned to his native village from Surat just a day before the tragic incident.

The murder took place in front of a liquor shop in Bhetanai village, which has left residents stunned and fearful.

In response, a police team led by Kotinada Police Station IIC Damodar Bihari conducted raids in the area and successfully detained the primary suspect, Dhanu Mohanty. The knife used in the crime has been recovered.

While the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear, police speculate that previous enmity between the accused and the victim could have triggered the attack. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
