Former Odisha minister Surendranath Naik passes away at 93

Bhubaneswar, July 5:  Former Odisha Minister Surendranath Naik passed away on Friday. He was 93. 

The ex-BJD MLA from Kakatpur was suffering from age-related ailments.

Born on May 17, 1937, in Astarang block under Puri district, Naik was the chairman of Astarang Panchayat Samiti from 1960 to 1967.

During his long political career, he served in various ministerial roles, including agriculture, revenue, and education.

With seven terms as an MLA and a range of ministerial portfolios under his belt, the seasoned leader was well respected across political parties. His absence is bound to creat a big void in Odisha politics, especially in Puri district.

At his Bhubaneswar residence, several political leaders paid their last respects to the departed leader.
