
New Delhi, Sept 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary, which is celebrated across the nation as Engineers' Day, and praised his remarkable contributions that played a pivotal role in shaping India's engineering landscape.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, PM Modi wrote, “Today, on Engineers’ Day, I pay homage to Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose brilliance left an indelible mark on India’s engineering landscape.”
He also extended warm greetings to all engineers, recognizing their creativity and determination in driving innovation and addressing challenges across various sectors.
“I extend warm greetings to all engineers who, through their creativity and determination, continue to drive innovation and tackle tough challenges across sectors. Our engineers will continue playing a crucial role in the collective efforts to build a Viksit Bharat,” he added.
It is worth noting that National Engineers' Day is observed every year on September 15 to honor the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, widely celebrated as one of India's greatest engineers.
Visvesvaraya's pioneering contributions transformed India's infrastructure through innovative designs, practical solutions, and visionary planning that combined technical expertise with social progress.
His legacy extends far beyond engineering; he was also an economist, statesman, and writer. Visvesvaraya served as the Diwan of Mysore and the President of the All-India Manufacturers' Organisation.
Honored with the Bharat Ratna in 1955, his enduring legacy continues to inspire engineers and policymakers alike.
