Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: In a significant lead in the Custodial torture by the Bharatpur Police in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, the victim Army Captain and his fiancée deposed before the Judicial Commission on Friday.
Appearing before the panel led by former Justice of the Orissa High Court Chittaranjan Dash, the Captain and his fiancée responded to the queries of the commission.
The commission which is probing the sensitive case, recorded the statements of the Captain and his fiancee.
On the other hand, the respondent five cops including the Bharatpur IIC Dinakrushna Mishra did not depose today whereas their counsel represented them.
As per sources, at least 16 persons were summoned to appear before the commission today in connection with the police atrocity case.
Worth mentioning, the Army Officer attached to the 22nd Sikh Regiment in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, and his fiancée were reportedly assaulted by police at Bharatpur Police Station on September 15. The couple had visited the police station to lodge a complaint against some miscreants over an incident of road rage during the wee hours.
