Bhubaneswar, August 7: In a move to enhance passenger safety and service quality, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has launched a new initiative requiring senior officials to travel on city buses twice a week. The goal is to directly observe operations, listen to commuter complaints, and collect feedback.
CRUT Managing Director Dr. N. Thirumala Naik has already joined regular passengers on routes from the CRUT office to Infocity and Trident College to Keshari Talkies, purchasing tickets and gathering real-time feedback.
This comes in response to rising concerns over frequent disputes and several serious accidents this year, including the deaths of over six people. Incidents like pushing passengers from moving buses and daily altercations have drawn criticism.
Passenger feedback will now be collected through online forms and the MoBus app to guide future improvements in routes, timings, and technology. CRUT General Manager Sanjay Biswal has also conducted surprise inspections, emphasizing the administration’s focus on closing the gap between planning and on-ground reality.
