Bhubaneswar, June 4: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of celebrated Odia litterateur and former IAS officer Dr. Jagannath Prasad Das, describing his death as an irreparable loss to the world of literature and public service.
In a condolence message posted on his official X handle, the Chief Minister said he was profoundly saddened by the news of Das’s demise. He highlighted that Das was not only a distinguished writer of exceptional calibre but also a dedicated officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), who served in several important positions in the Government of Odisha and the Government of India.
CM Majhi noted that Dr. Das made a lasting contribution to every branch of literature through his creative excellence and intellectual depth. He added that his passing has created a void that cannot be filled in the literary world.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Dr. Jagannath Prasad Das passed away at his residence in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night at the age of 90. A multifaceted personality, he was widely respected as a poet, playwright, novelist, painter, and art historian, leaving behind a rich and enduring cultural legacy.
