Keonjhar, Sept 2: In a tragic incident, a tribal woman was brutally murdered in Nialijharan village under the Ghashipura police jurisdiction in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, reportedly due to suspicions of sorcery. The victim has been identified as Salke Hembram.
The violence occurred while Salke Hembram, the wife of Mohan Hembram, was at home with her mother-in-law, Sumi, as other family members were attending a community feast. An unidentified miscreant entered their home, dragged Salke outside, and then hacked her to death.
A complaint in this regard was lodged with Ghashipura police limits by the deceased’s husband.
Upon receiving the report, the police acted swiftly. A team led by Anandapur SDPO was dispatched to the village to begin an investigation, and a scientific team was also deployed to gather evidence.
