Balasore, May 23: In an unfortunate incident, a 20-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide on Friday reportedly due to addiction of online gaming in Bhogarai area of Odisha’s Balasore district.

The deceased has been identified as Anand Mirdha, a resident of Keertinia village in the district.

As per reports, some locals spotted Anand hanging from a tree and alerted his family members as well as the police.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and brought the body down. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

Sources said that Anand had been playing the popular mobile game ‘Free Fire’ for almost a year to which his family has been opposing and restricting him. It is also reported that he had been asking for a new phone, but his family did not give him one.

Though the exact reason behind Anand’s death is yet to be ascertained, the aforementioned reasons might have prompted him to take such a serious step.

However, the family and the police have not officially said anything yet.

Further investigation into the matter was underway.
