BMC has decided to impose a fine of Rs 1000 on households and Rs 5000 on institutions if potential breeding sources of dengue mosquito or larvae is found. More than 10 teams have been formed for the audit

Bhubaneswar, Aug 16: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday started a Dengue audit drive in every household of the capital city to check breeding sources amid rising dengue issue.

According to the report, BMC has decided to impose a fine of Rs 1000 on households and Rs 5000 on institutions if potential breeding sources of dengue mosquito or larvae is found. More than 10 teams have been formed for the audit.

“The motto of the special audit is not collection of fines. BMC has started the drive to make people aware. As per the decision, a household has to pay Rs 1000 and Rs 5000 for institutions if dengue breeding sources are found at their premises. Dengue incidents in the city are still on rise. Stagnant water which has not been emptied leads to dengue mosquito breeding and in the monsoon the cases increase,” said BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
