Anil Ambani to face ED questioning on Nov 14 in money laundering probe

New Delhi, Nov 6: Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani has once again been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning next week in connection with an alleged bank fraud and money laundering case, according to official sources.

The 66-year-old industrialist, who was earlier questioned by the central agency in August, has now been asked to appear before investigators on November 14 at the ED’s Delhi headquarters, the sources said.

This fresh summons comes nearly three months after Ambani was interrogated for about eight hours in the same case. The development follows the ED’s provisional attachment of over 42 properties linked to him and his companies, valued at more than ₹3,083 crore, as part of its probe into entities of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG).

According to the ED, the investigation has uncovered a “fraudulent diversion of public funds” by several ADAG companies, including Reliance Communications Ltd (RCOM), Reliance Home Finance Ltd (RHFL), Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd (RCFL), Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (R-Infra), and Reliance Power Ltd.

The agency further stated that prior to Yes Bank’s investments in ADAG firms, it had received significant funds from Reliance Nippon Mutual Fund. However, under SEBI regulations, the mutual fund was prohibited from directly investing in or diverting money to Ambani group’s finance companies due to conflict-of-interest restrictions.
