Bhubaneswar, September 5: On Teachers' Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that the state government will fill 45,000 vacant teaching posts in schools over the next three years.

Speaking at a Teachers’ Day event at Secondary Board High School in Cuttack, Majhi highlighted the importance of teachers and ongoing education reforms in the state.

Interacting with students, the Chief Minister urged them to limit their time on social media and focus on education and career building.

Majhi said Odisha has introduced the ‘KG to PG’ free education scheme and is constructing 2,200 Godavarish Mishra Adarsha Pratamika Vidyalayasat a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. He also said 45,000 nursery schools have been opened for pre-school children.

The government plans to extend mid-day meals and free textbooks to Classes 9 and 10, while the Shahid Madho Singh Hath Kharcha Yojana aims to support tribal students and reduce school dropouts.
