Rampur (UP), October 8: Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav visited senior party leader Azam Khan at his residence in Rampur on Wednesday to check on his health and well-being. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yadav expressed his concerns about the ongoing "unprecedented harassment" that Khan has faced at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Uttar Pradesh government.
"I could not visit him earlier when he was in jail, but today, I came to meet Azam Khan Sahab at his home to inquire about his health," Yadav shared.
Praising Khan’s long-standing contributions to the party, Akhilesh Yadav noted, "Azam Khan Sahab is one of the oldest leaders of our party, a senior socialist figure with strong roots in the Samajwadi Party. He has been a close associate of our patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav for many years. His leadership is like a strong tree whose roots run deep. The shade of this tree has always provided protection to the party."
