Jagatsinghpur: A woman in Jagatsinghpur district finally approached Balikuda police on Friday, alleging that a man from Ogarpur has been harassing and blackmailing her for nearly five years by threatening to circulate obscene photographs of her on social media.

Based on her complaint, Balikuda police registered a case on October 19. The woman alleged that the accused had secretly taken photographs of her while she was bathing around five years ago and had since been using them to threaten and intimidate her.

Accused Allegedly Resumed Harassment After Arrests

According to the complaint, the woman's mother had lodged several complaints with the police over the alleged harassment in the past. Police had reportedly arrested the accused twice and forwarded him to court. However, the woman alleged that he resumed threatening her and her family after being released from jail.

The accused allegedly threatened to disrupt her marriage and abduct her. He is also accused of frequently visiting her house, hurling abuses and intimidating the family. On some occasions, he allegedly stood naked in front of their house, further aggravating the family's distress.

Threats of Photo Circulation Cause Distress

The woman alleged that the accused had repeatedly threatened to circulate the photographs on social media and put up posters featuring them across the village. The continuing harassment has reportedly left her distressed and reluctant to step outside her home for fear of public humiliation.

She has sought police intervention and action against the accused. Police have registered a case based on her complaint and are looking into the allegations.
