Ahmedabad, June 15: Three days after the Air India Boeing plane en route to London from Ahmedabad crashed a medical hostel, authorities have identified the DNA of 32 out of 270 victims so far.
Among others, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s body was identified from DNA and handed over to his family members.
Apart from it, 31 other victims were identified so far who belong belong mostly from Gujarat and Rajasthan.
On the other hand, at least 14 bodies were handed over to their families following their DNA tested same, as of their samples.
These deceased were from Udaipur, Vadodara, Kheda, Mehsana, Arvalli, Ahmedabad and Botad districts, Additional Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Dr. Rajneesh Patel said.
The charred remnants were then sent for dispose of from the mortuaries, Patel added.
All but one of the 242 passengers and crew on board the Boeing 787-8(AI171) and another 29 persons, including five MBBS students, on the ground were killed in the plane crash, took place on Thursday.
