Guwahati, May 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that 73 individuals accused of working as "Pakistani agents" have been arrested in an ongoing crackdown on anti-national activities.
Sharing the update on social media, Sarma condemned those who enjoy Indian privileges but support Pakistan's interests, calling it a betrayal. The latest arrests include Faridul Islam in Chirang and Sahabuddin Rain in Hojai.
The arrests follow intensified social media monitoring after the Pahalgam terror attack, with several accused of posting pro-Pakistan content.
Sarma praised the Assam Police’s efforts and linked the crackdown to broader national actions like Operation Sindoor, under which the Indian Armed Forces struck terror hideouts in Pakistan and PoJK on May 7.
