Angul, Mar 11: In a tragic incident, 32-year-old Ritesh Pradhan from Serenda village in Angul district passed away after battling for life for six days following a road accident. Despite the tragedy, his noble decision to donate his organs has given a new lease of life to three people.

According to reports, Ritesh met with a bike accident near Sardhapur in Angul while returning home after playing Holi. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Angul in critical condition and was later shifted to Cuttack for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Before his death, Ritesh had expressed his wish to donate his organs. Respecting his last wish, his family agreed to the organ donation. The procedure was carried out at Care Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where his two kidneys and liver were successfully transplanted into three patients.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended over his native village. Family members and villagers are struggling to come to terms with the loss. Ritesh is survived by his wife, who works as a Havildar in the Odisha Police in Angul, and their twin son and daughter.

Even as the family mourns the untimely loss, many are praising Ritesh for his inspiring act of humanity that has helped save lives.
