Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister K. V. Singh Deo informed on Wednesday in the Assembly that the state government will soon begin the process of including new farmers under the CM KISAN scheme.
During his first budget speech, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had introduced the CM-KISAN scheme, which will replace the KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme of the previous BJD government. The state government has allocated ₹1,935 crore for the CM-KISAN scheme for the financial year 2024-25.
In a written response to the Assembly, Singh Deo, who also heads the Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment department, stated that small and marginal farmers, as well as landless agricultural households, will be eligible to benefit from the CM-KISAN scheme, which aims to empower the state's farmers.
Under this new scheme, farmers will receive Rs 4,000 annually in two instalments, while landless agricultural families will be provided Rs 12,500 in three instalments. Singh Deo added that farmers can apply for these benefits through the CM-KISAN portal, with the application process set to begin soon.
