Jagatsinghpur, Aug 16: In a bizarre incident, a youth allegedly hacked her grandmother to death and injured two others for not accepting his inter-caste marriage. The incident occurred at Gadeigiri village under Baikuda block of Jagatsinghpur on Wednesday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Sukhilata Sahoo. The injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to the information, Sameer had an affair with a girl belonging to scheduled caste and he married her against the wishes of his family. However, the family of Sameer denied allowing them to their house after marriage.

Sameer, who was sent to jail recently released and again forced his family to allow him with his wife to stay in the house. As the family members refused to accept his inter-caste marriage, an enraged Sameer attacked his grandmother with a sharp weapon, killing her on the spot. However, he also attacked two other women including her mother when they tried to intervene in his matter.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospital then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition worsened.

Being informed police reached the spot, arrested Sameer and started a probe into the incident.
