Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses gain Threads and Muse Spark

Menlo Park-based Meta has officially rolled out a fresh firmware update for its Ray-Ban Display Glasses, introducing Threads support and Muse Spark models. Wearable technology is quickly shifting from simple notification tools to fully integrated social and artificial intelligence hubs. Launched globally last September as the Mark Zuckerberg-led company's first augmented reality screen devices, these smart glasses now let users seamlessly browse their Threads feed. Owners can easily view media, engage with posts, and share content via messaging using voice commands directly from the headset. The company is distributing this latest software version "gradually" across select global markets, advising users to check back later if they do not see it yet.

Social Media Integration Expands

Users can now share pictures directly to Instants, which is Instagram's recently added feed within the messages window. To operate this, owners simply use voice commands like, "Hey Meta, share an instant" or "Hey Meta, post an Instant." You can also send Instagram Reels to contacts, read comments, and search for specific videos. For instance, you can say, "Hey Meta, show me reels of the coolest features on Meta Ray-Ban Display," and the smart glasses will locate that exact content.

Artificial Intelligence Upgrades Arrive

This new software brings strong artificial intelligence improvements to the hardware. Meta upgraded its AI suite with Muse Spark models for these smart glasses. The tech giant notes this specific change helps the wearables generate better answers. It also allows the glasses to clearly understand what wearers are looking at to provide much better suggestions.

Lastly, the Meta Neural Band receives an important update, connecting the AI upgrade to Neural Handwriting. Currently, this specific functionality remains available only to users enrolled in the early access programme in the US and Canada. Once updated, people can ask the virtual assistant to generate answers without speaking. You just double-tap your thumb and click the Write button on AI Home to activate handwriting mode effortlessly.
