Bhubaneswar, March 13: A woman lost her life in a tragic hit-and-run accident on the Aiginia main road in the capital city on Friday.

According to sources, the woman was returning after buying vegetables when a speeding car hit her from behind. The driver fled the spot immediately after the accident. Though some locals attempted to chase the vehicle, the driver managed to escape.

On receiving information, the IIC of Khandagiri police station reached the spot and launched an investigation. The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been established. Police are trying to contact her family members through the mobile phone recovered from her.

Meanwhile, police have started scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and trace the driver involved in the hit-and-run case.
