Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday cracked the mystery behind the murder of hotelier Biswajit Nayak.
The Balianta police has arrested a woman, identified as Sunki Rana, who was an accused in another murder case.
The incident had taken place at a residence in Hirapur village under the Balianta police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar a couple of days ago.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh while briefing media on Tuesday said, one Purna Prakash Nayak, a resident of Hirapur village under Balianta police station, had lodged a complaint with the police that someone killed his elder brother Biswajit Nayak at his residence.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused was Sunki Rana (36), a native of Jharsuguda who was involved in a murder case previously. After her release from jail four years ago, she was staying at a temple in Puri and came in contact with deceased Biswajit Nayak through his mother.
The police alleged that an affair had developed between the deceased and accused Sunki Rana. Following this, Sunki frequented the house of the deceased. Meanwhile, a faceoff between Biswajit and Sunki erupted over her return to Puri temple. Following this, Sunki suddenly attacked Biswajit with a wooden stick on his head resulting in the latter’s death.
Sunki escaped from the spot concealing the blood-stained wooden plank who was later arrested from Puri by the sleuths, said the DCP.
