New Delhi, July 19: Industrialist Naveen Jindal on Friday assured that strict and necessary action will be taken if allegations against Jindal Steel CEO Dinesh Kr Saraogi are proven true. This follows a woman’s social media post accusing Saraogi of sexually assaulting her during a flight from Calcutta to Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
In her post on X, the woman detailed the incident, explaining that she was seated next to Saraogi on the Etihad flight, which was a transit leg to her final destination in Boston. She shared her ordeal, describing how an initially normal conversation with Saraogi took a disturbing turn.
According to the woman, Saraogi, who mentioned he was around 65 years old and lived in Oman, started the conversation with casual topics such as family and hobbies. However, the situation escalated when he showed her explicit content on his phone. “He whips out his phone and earphones to show me porn!” she alleged.
The woman recounted being "frozen in shock and scare" as Saraogi began groping her. She eventually escaped to the washroom and reported the incident to the flight attendants. The Etihad crew responded promptly, moving her to their seating area and providing her with tea and fruits. Despite the ordeal, she could not file a formal complaint immediately due to the risk of missing her connecting flight to Boston. However, she noted that the airline staff ensured her safety by escorting her to the next gate.
Naveen Jindal responded to her post on X, commending her bravery for speaking out. “Dear Ananya, thank you for reaching out and speaking up! It takes a lot of courage to do what you did, and I want you to know that we have a zero-tolerance policy for such matters,” Jindal wrote.
Jindal assured that an immediate investigation would be conducted and that strict action would follow based on the findings. “I have asked the team to immediately investigate the matter and thereafter strictest and necessary action will be taken,” he added.
