Jagatsinghpur, August 24: The Odisha Vigilance Department has launched simultaneous raids at six locations linked to Bhanja Kishore Behera, a Senior Revenue Assistant posted at Naugaon Tehsil in Jagatsinghpur district, on allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The raids are being conducted at his ancestral residence in Pateni village under Raghunathpur block, his office, his in-laws’ house and other locations. Vigilance officials are currently verifying his movable and immovable properties as part of the investigation.
Behera had earlier come under the Vigilance scanner while he was posted at Tirtol Block. Allegations had surfaced that he was involved in financial irregularities amounting to around Rs 3.02 crore.
Based on the allegations, the Vigilance Department arrested Behera on August 12 and produced him before the court.
Officials said the latest searches are part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets. The Vigilance team has reportedly been monitoring Behera’s activities for a considerable period.
The complete details of the assets and other findings are expected to emerge after the raids are concluded.
