Koraput, Mar 17: In a tragic turn of events, a pickup van carrying a wedding party fell off a bridge in the Kundura block of Odisha’s Koraput district killing at least two persons and injuring 12 others on Sunday.
As per reports, the pickup van, ferrying around 40 passengers, was en route from Dhalapur, Boipariguda block, to Nuagaon, Borigumma block when the driver lost control over the wheels. As a result, the ill-fated vehicle plunged from the bridge.
Upon receiving the information, Fire Services personnel arrived at the spot and rescued the victims. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where the attending doctors declared two of them dead.
Of the injured, the health condition of three individuals was stated to be critical and they were shifted to to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Others are currently receiving treatment at Kundura Hospital.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
