Berhampur, Aug 22: A devastating road accident occurred near Samarjhola under Hinjili police station in Ganjam district, where a bus collided head-on with a tanker, leading to the tragic deaths of five persons and injuries to several passengers.
According to reports, a private bus carrying passengers from Bhanjanagar to Berhampur collided with a tanker near Samarjhola. The impact was so severe that two people died on the spot, while others were critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, two more individuals succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, bringing the death toll to four. Many others sustained injuries in the accident and are receiving treatment at various hospitals.
As of now, no further information has been received about the identities of the deceased or injured. Being informed, police reached the spot and further investigation into the incident is underway.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the death of five people in a road accident near Samarjhol Street in Ganjam district and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister has mandated that each deceased person's next of kin receive Rs. 2 lakh in compensation, while those who are gravely injured receive Rs. 1 lakh. The Chief Minister also declared that the full cost of the affected parties' medical care would be covered by the state government.
