The major factors behind BJP’s unprecedented success in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 5: The BJP has clinched a historic win in Odisha by sweeping 20 Lok Sabha seats and 78 Assembly segments, marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.

Here are the multi-faceted factors that contributed to the BJP’s unprecedented success in Odisha:

The party’s save ‘Odia Asmita’ sloganeering played a pivotal role in mobilisation of voters in grassroots-level. It effectively utilised social media platforms to disseminate its message about the monopoly of bureaucrat-turned-politician VK Pandian, who was at the helm of Naveen Patnaik's 2024 campaigning.

The meticulous campaign strategy of creating an anti-incumbency wave among voters by connecting their sentiment and effective counter of BJD's schemes helped the BJP to change voter’s mood.

Discontentment over governance issues like unemployment, corruption, agrarian distress created a favourable ground for BJP. The party deployed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Dab who raised question over missing of Srimandir Ratna Bhandar key and assured to find it soon after the BJP government takes oath in Odisha.

Similarly, a team of Union ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states frequented the state and held targeted campaigns addressing specific concerns and aspirations of voters from all walks of life.

Modi’s guarantee and appeal to vote for BJP for once after 24-year-old chance to BJD motivated voters as he promised development in Odisha under his personal supervision.
