Bhubaneswar, Feb 23: Enrolment of girl students in polytechnic and ITI courses has been witnessing a rise since the introduction of Odisha government’s Sudakshya scheme.
The state government had launched a new scheme ‘Sudakshya’ in 2018 to improve the enrolment of girls in government it is and polytechnic courses. The scheme envisages financial assistance for mobilisation of girls, support for training and placement.
While only 17 percent girl students had taken admission in polytechnic courses in 2021-22, it doubled in 2023-24 with 35 percent girls taking admission. Similarly, there has been a significant rise in enrolment of girl students in ITI courses.
Only 20 percent girls had taken admission in ITI courses in 2021-22 that rose to 31 percent in 2023-24.
