Bhubaneswar, January 22: The Sixth State Finance Commission (SFC) submitted its final report to Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati at Lok Bhawan yesterday.

Members of the commission led by Chairman Dr. Arun Kumar Panda visited the Lok Bhavan in the city and submitted the report to the Governor. The members also discussed various recommendations in the report.

Constituted on January 22, 2025, the Commission conducted extensive activities to gather data and collect suggestions from public representatives, officials and experts.

The Commission, which had submitted the interim report on August 18, 2025, also held meetings with key departments, invited memorandums from public representatives, departments, districts and general public in the state.

The Governor congratulated the commission for the timely submission of the final report and inclusion of innovative suggestions for the State's financial growth.

Notably, the State Government, in January last year constituted a five-member 6th State Finance Commission (SFC) headed by retired IAS officer Arun Kumar Panda to recommend the formula for devolution of taxes collected from different sources between the State, three-tire panchayati raj institutions and urban local bodies.

The commission was mandated to recommend the Government on the determination of grant-in-aid to the PRIs and ULBs from the Consolidated Fund of the State and to address how to bridge the functional and financial gap of the local bodies during the course of discharging and implementing government schemes.
