Bhadrak, May 7: A NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide over fears of poor examination results in Bhadrak. The incident has been reported from the town police limits area.
The deceased has been identified as Jyotiprakash Barik of No village under Tihidi police station in Bhadrak. He had earlier stayed in Bhubaneswar for NEET preparation and had scored 330 marks in his first attempt. Later, he returned to Bhadrak and continued preparing for the medical entrance examination while staying with his parents.
According to family members, Jyotiprakash was under severe stress over his academic performance and often expressed concern about his future. He had appeared for the NEET examination for the second time this year and had also assessed his own performance after the test.
Suspecting that his result might not meet expectations again, the student allegedly took the extreme step while alone at his rented house. His mother had reportedly gone to assist at his father’s shop when the incident occurred.
He was rushed to Bhadrak Medical College and Hospital after being rescued, but doctors declared him dead.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
