Nabarangpur, Oct 5: A 79-year-old retired teacher was injured after being attacked by a stray dog while he was out on his evening walk in Raighar of Nabarangpur district. The incident reportedly occurred in Kalisundari Sahi, where retired teacher Yudhistir Swain had gone for his routine evening walk.

Dog Lurking in Bushes Attacks Elderly Man

According to reports, a stray dog was hiding among bushes along the roadside. As Swain approached the spot, he suddenly came face-to-face with the animal.

The dog allegedly attacked him without warning, leading to a fierce struggle. Swain reportedly tried several times to escape the animal's grip, but the dog continued attacking him.

79-Year-Old Fights Back

During the struggle, which reportedly continued for some time on the ground, Swain managed to grab the dog's neck in an attempt to defend himself.

The elderly man reportedly held the dog's neck tightly, following which the animal died at the spot.

Injured Teacher Walks Back Home

Swain sustained multiple injuries during the attack and was reportedly bleeding. Despite his condition, he somehow managed to reach his home. After noticing his injuries, family members immediately rushed him to Raighar Community Health Centre (CHC), where he received medical treatment.

Stray Dog Menace Raises Fresh Safety Concerns

The incident has once again raised concerns over the growing stray dog menace in residential areas.

The attack has once again raised serious concerns on the vulnerability of elderly residents who regularly go out for morning or evening walks. Expressing discontentment, locals called for immediate measures to prevent such incidents and ensure safer public spaces in the area.
