Bhubaneswar weather: Rain, thunderstorms likely over next few days

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: Residents of Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy skies and changing weather conditions over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain and thunderstorms in parts of Odisha.

According to the latest weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the capital city is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky over the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 35°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle at approximately 24.9°C.

While no major rainfall warning has been issued specifically for Bhubaneswar for the immediate 24-hour period, the city could see changing weather conditions as thunderstorms and rain are forecast across several parts of Odisha during the coming days.

Yellow warning on October 7

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for 14 districts on October 7, including Khordha, where Bhubaneswar is located.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30–40 kmph are likely at isolated places in Khordha and several other districts, including Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Nayagarh.

The warning means residents in Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas should remain alert, particularly during periods of thunderstorm and lightning activity.

Rain likely across Odisha

The IMD has forecast isolated rainfall in several districts on October 5, followed by light to moderate rain or thundershowers at one or two places in parts of northern and coastal Odisha on October 6.

Rain and thunderstorms are also likely over several northern, coastal and southern districts on October 7.

On October 8, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places across several northern and coastal districts. A yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds has been issued for 12 districts for the day.
