Bhubaneswar, August 4: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced the launch of the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in Odisha soon.
The Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) has been introduced by the Odisha state government to enhance healthcare services
Purpose of Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) is to provide healthcare facilities to poor and needy residents of Odisha.
It will cover both urban areas and rural areas of the state. In this scheme poor and needy people will be provided free healthcare up to ₹6 lakh in urban areas whereas in rural areas it is up to ₹5 lakh.
The scheme will replace the existing Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) following the 2024-25 budget approval in coming September.
Beneficiaries can continue using BSKY benefits until GJAY is fully implemented.
The state has allocated ₹5,450 crore for GJAY.
Over 96.50 lakh families currently benefiting from BSKY will be covered under GJAY.
The phased implementation of GJAY will ensure a smooth transition while continuing to provide essential healthcare services to the people of Odisha.
