Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Nandankanan police on Sunday arrested a self-proclaimed baba on charges of sexual assault on a minor girl.
The incident took place in an Ashram located at Kendupatna area in Bhubaneswar.
The accused has been identified as Amar Das, who proclaimed as a Mahima Baba.
According to the complaint, a minor girl had gone to the Baba’s ashram to offer puja. Meanwhile, the Baba allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl.
Based on the girl’s ordeal the parents, lodged a complaint with the Nandankanan Police seeking justice.
A team of police on Sunday picked the accused from the ashram and sent him to judicial remand.
The Baba has been booked under the POCSO Act while further investigation into the matter is underway,said the police.
