Subarnapur, May 2: A severe thunderstorm with heavy rainfall hit various parts of Subarnapur district yesterday, causing widespread damage to property, roads, and agriculture.

The storm particularly affected Ghodadhar village, where many houses suffered damage to rooftops and windows, while several vehicles parked outdoors were shattered. In addition, two road embankments were damaged by the heavy rains, disrupting local connectivity.

Local farmers have reported that the floodwaters and damaged embankments destroyed crops, severely affecting their livelihoods. Some farmers also sustained minor injuries while trying to protect their fields from the storm’s impact.

Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and are expected to begin repair work on roads and public infrastructure soon.
