Bhubaneswar, Dec 26: Outpatient department (OPD) services remained suspended for one hour across government hospitals in Odisha on Friday as OMSA doctors launched a statewide protest demanding implementation of DACP Scheme, with other charter of demands.

With the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA)’s resolve, doctors stayed away from serving patients in the OPDs, for around an hour today.

As a result, OPDs across the state were almost jeopardized due to the doctors’ non-coperation during 10-11 AM today. Similarly, out patients in the state’s Medical Colleges faced massive inconvenience due to the protest of the OMSA doctors, working here.

According to an OMSA member, the protest would continue for an infinite period until the demands were addressed. However, he said that the doctors resolved to go for a mass resignation, if either justice to them is delayed or denied.

The protest is based on a multi-point charter of demands submitted by the OMSA to the government of Odisha submitting copies to the government of India.

Key demands include the implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme without preconditions, in line with central government norms, already adopted by several states.

The forum has also sought salary parity with central government doctors, including a revision of Dearness Allowance with formulation of a transparent transfer policy for the government doctors.
