Sambalpur, April 27: A meagre amount, three-month’s pending salary became fatal for a Sambalpur-based businessman.
Sambalpur police on Saturday cracked the death mystery of a courier owner that unravelled the delivery boy as the mastermind to kill his master for three-month’s pending salary.
Sambalpur SDPO, Toofan Bag said, the Ainthapali police had recovered the body of a courier owner identified as Ranjit Shah from a lumber room of his office. Subsequently, the Ainthapali police took up the investigation and sent the body which was seized from a pool of blood from the spot, for autopsy.
On the basis of the prima facie informed by Gopabandhu Behera who works as a delivery boy and the complaint of the deceased’s wife, police had registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
During the course of investigation, police got a significant lead on the case that the delivery boy was at draggers dawn with his master for non-payment of his salary continuously for three months. Based on the clues, the sleuths zeroed at the delivery boy, Gopabandhu Behera.
During interrogation the accused confessed to his crime. He admitted that he thrashed his master Shah with an iron rod for persistently denying his monthly salary. To avert police action he threw him languished in the office-godown in a pool of blood.
Scene recreation by the accused at the crime spot was performed that corroborates the statement recorded during interrogation, said the SDPO while briefing media persons after busting the case.
