Bhubaneswar, Jul 3: A major disruption in the daily rituals was reported at the historic Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar on the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan after a dispute erupted between Brahmin priests and Badu servitors over the distribution of the traditional Shravan Pauna.

According to sources, the disagreement began on Sunday evening, bringing the temple's regular rituals to a halt. Although the Badu servitors performed their designated duties early Monday morning, the absence of the Pujapanda servitors prevented the completion of the temple's worship rituals.

As a result, hundreds of devotees and Kanwariyas, who had arrived from different parts of the state to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion, were unable to perform the customary puja. Many devotees offered only holy water to Lord Lingaraj and returned disappointed without receiving darshan through the regular worship process.

The disruption on one of the most significant days of the Shravan month has caused inconvenience to pilgrims and raised concerns over the recurring disputes among temple servitors affecting religious rituals. Temple authorities are yet to announce when normal rituals will resume.
